The water hammer absorber is a special pressure storage device for pressurized liquid. In all practical applications, it has been proved that liquid is incompressible, and the compressibility of gas can be used to solve this problem.

A separation airbag similar to a diaphragm is installed in the pressure housing of the water hammer absorber.   The inert gas (nitrogen) at the pressure of P0 rushes into the airbag through the intake valve until the airbag expands and fills the entire internal space of the water hammer absorber with volume V0.   When the circulating pressure P1 is greater than the preset pressure P0 of the gas, the Hydraulic Valve at the bottom opens, and the airbag is compressed to V1 due to the external circulating pressure.
